We are living at an important and fruitful moment now, for it is clear to men that the images of adult manhood given by the popular culture are worn out; a man can no longer depend on them. By the time a man is thirty-five he knows that the images of the right man, the tough man, the true man which he received in high school do not work in life. Such a man is open to new visions of what a man is or could be.
--Robert Bly, Iron John: A Book About Men
The world is a-changing: Are we changing to meet the needs of the world? We invite men of all ages to explore with us what it means to be male in our culture at this moment in time.
We have been offering retreats at Bishop Booth Conference Center in Burlington (near North Beach) since 2000 and have extensive experience in creating safe space. Our approach is grounded in a retreat model called a Circle of Trust© created by Parker Palmer and described in his book A Hidden Wholeness.
Our retreats offer opportunities to unplug and reflect that include journaling, solitude, music & poetry, good company, great food in a spectacularly beautiful natural setting and a conversational approach grounded in listening, question-asking, and sharing our stories. The cost for the day is $100, which includes lunch and all materials.
If this invitation piques your interest, we encourage you contact one of us ASAP for more details about this retreat.
